we arrived after the check in time (just frankly didn't check as most receptions are open 24 hours). was nervous when i approached the dark office but was really pleased to find an envelope with my name on it and the keys to our room as well as a map where it was. breakfast was nice grab and go options, lovely local pastries. wish i had time to take a dip in the hot tub. great find in a very expensive area!

Fun shops and restaurants on main street.
Fun shops and restaurants on main street. Did some great walks from the hotel down to the river and through local vineyards. Also walked to the cemetery on Spring street. Went winetasting at Ballentine which was very close to the hotel. Miguel was very knowledgeable. Met several locals who were very friendly and gave us hiking and restaurant recommendations.

The downtown is very nice and walkable, and I liked the Robert Louis Stevenson museum. It's also close to Calistoga and the famous hot springs. The weather is great and if you enjoy wine, the choices are endless!

Cute little town.
Cute little town. If wine is your thing, this is the place to be. However, if you are willing to explore a bit more, there is the Robert Louis Stevenson/Silverado Museum within walking distance of the downtown area. And, just a short drive to Calistoga, there is the Petrified Forest. Amazing! I had no idea, California had it’s own Petrified Forest. They have a small park in town that puts on events. The night I checked in, they had a community potluck with live music! I had already had dinner at one of the in town restaurants, but I shamelessly had my desert in the park & enjoyed the jazz/blues trio playing. Enjoyable 2-day stay!

St Helena is a little cheaper to stay in than Napa or Sonoma...
St Helena is a little cheaper to stay in than Napa or Sonoma and, I would argue, offers something a bit different - you can stay right amongst the vineyards and it has some of the best restaurants in Napa Valley right on your doorstep. Farmstead is the standout choice just outside of the town centre, but Charter Oak next door also gets rave reviews and there are more restaurants like Market and Cooks in St Helena itself that come highly recommended. And for quicker options, the bruschetta truck at Clif Family Tasting Rooms is fantastic and Gott’s Roadside is great for a burger and milkshake in between your wine tours. On the vineyards themselves, there are obviously more to choose from than I could mention, but I would highly recommend Hall Wines with its large sculptured “Bunny Foo-Foo” out front - it is a very modern vineyard which mixes great wine and great art to fantastic effect.
I spent my birthday at El Bonita, one of my favorite hotels in the wine country. Upon arriving, I was told they had upgraded me to a king bed instead of a queen. No charge! We enjoyed the hot tub that night, and the pool was luke warm, not cold like other hotels. The morning breakfast had everything you would want; coffee, juice, fresh fruits, cereal, delicious scones, and croissants. El Bonita is very affordable and a hidden gem if you plan on staying in St. Helena. You are a couple of blocks from Farmstead, an outstanding restaurant./
the hotel is super beautiful, only 12 rooms! the service is exceptional and the breakfast buffet is so cute. my only suggestion that it could be self service for coffee/tea at least.
you also get access to the Health Valley Spa centre, which is only 4 blocks away and has a huge pool!
the hotel is next to Safeway where you can purchase very good value wines!!!
Staff were wonderful, we had a great room overlooking the vineyard. Adult pool was extremely quiet and relaxing. Dinner at the Harvest Table was delicious. The Hotel staff went out of their way to make our wedding anniversary special by treating us to a glass of bubbly at dinner and a bottle of bubbly in our room.
Yes we would stay there again!
It was very clean. The bedroom and bathroom are large, with a high ceiling. Air conditioning was very good as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, particularly the English muffins from an upscale local bakery. The hotel is right at Main street, in walking distance from fantastic restaurants and nice stores.
We were celebrating our 20th anniversary. This place exceeded our expectations. Thank you so very much for treating us so nicely. We felt very welcomed. Oh, and the breakfast!!! It is unforgettable! you don't get this kind of food at the hotel.
Excellently located in Yountville, easy access in and out.
great view from the patio to the outside vineyard
room is very clean and is equipped with everything we needed
facility is very well maintained, plants are well kept
the hotel doenn’t have a staff enough!!! we stay one day all outside and nobody change our room! eh en We arrived just a woman want ed our card for payment and doesn’t explano any THINGS or show us the hotel…
The room was the best. It was only the stairs that were tough with the luggage. The only thing you can do is have someone available to help people get luggage up the stairs.
Room was very comfortable. Enjoyed the fireplace. Bed was excellent. Nice to have separate sink/mirror outside of bathroom for my wife. Excellent location in St. Helena.
Absolutely amazing hotel with a view on vineyards. The area is very quiet and St Helena is easily reachable by foot - with big offering of restaurants and vineries.
